Emmy Picks
Since I won't be around this weekend, here are my picks for the Emmys this year. I skipped the miniseries categories because I haven't seen any of them and they'd all be random guesses. Let's just say I don't think "The Starter Wife" will sweep or anything.
So without further ado:
I'd love to see BSG get it, but it's not likely. I actually think FNL might pull one out on this one. However, I think there is going to be a Sopranos sweep and I think directing will be caught up in that sweep. So Alan Taylor for The Sopranos.
I'm gonna go with "Dick in a Box." If for no other reason than I love the idea of them having to say "Emmy-award winning song 'Dick in a Box'"
Hmm...do we think Alec Baldwin's personal troubles might affect him here? Not sure if he's liked in the industry or not, which definitely is a factor. I'm going to to with him over Steve Carell though.
Anyone think Gandolfini isn't a lock for this one?
Hmmm...I think this one is a toss-up between America and Tina. Not that I think those are the two best performances, but it's where I think the industry is at. I think they'll give it to Tina for pulling off 30 Rock.
Do we still really like Sally Field? Probably, but Edie Falco for the win.
Piven and Wilson are great, but I'm going with Neil Patrick Harris here. I think he's so surprised everyone with this performance after the Doogie Howser years, and while I've only seen a couple of episodes, I know he really does just pop off the screen as Barney.
Outstanding Supporting Actress In A Comedy Series
Sadly, I think Jenna's Pam is too understated a character to win. But I honestly have no clue who will win in this one. Let's say Conchata Farrell only because I really like her and she's in one of my favorite scenes of television ever.
Again, The Office or 30 Rock? Hmmm....it's a coin toss really. I'm going to say The Office here.
I think The Colbert Report is going to beat out The Daily Show this time. And since Stewart does both, it will still be considered some lovin' for him.
Eh....I'm going to pick Gay Witch Hunt. Also, I'm apparently a horrible writer, because I deleted the names of the writers for each episode. My bad.
Again, The Colbert Report
Guess we'll see how I do come Sunday.

Hmmm...here's my problem with picks in Comedy. I'm not sure if they will still be giving The Office love, or if they will want to recognize 30 Rock for being the only comedy to really survive this season. That said, I think I'm going to go with Scrubs for this one, since it was a musical episode and it does get a lot of love within the industry.

LostTerry O’Quinn as John Locke
The Sopranos Michael Imperioli as Christopher Moltisanti
Can we stop nominating Shatner for playing himself? Seriously. I don't think Imperioli will get this. I think Masi is going to take this one. He submitted the five years later episode, where he did the turn as the dual Hiros. That's going to be hard to beat performance-wise.
